Show Freshmen suffer defeat The. team is much smaller than at the beginning of the season for several reasons. "Injuries have nearly done us in this season," said coach Virgil John-son. Cedar High freshmen football coach Wayne Decker never suspected that his team would lose another game yet they did just that last week against the Lincoln County Sophomores. The final score for the contest was 24-12. "They had a couple of really good players that we just weren't able to control," stated Decker. "And, of course, it always matters when you play a team that is older and more experienced than you are." Although the young Redmen team appeared unprepared for this matchup, there were some good things that happened. The passing game worked well for CHS. Decker praised the passing combination of quarterback Jeff Heap and receiver David Hart. A combination of Heap and Reg Johnson also proved successful for Cedar. 1 Cedar's next contest will be today against the sophomore team from Beaver High School. In other underclassmen action at Cedar High this week, the CHS sophomores were defeated 40-6 by a tough Spanish Fork squad. |
