Show Energy film scheduled "The Solar Promise," a film explaining the basic principles of solar energy, will be shown Oct. 8 at Southern Utah State College. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the SUSC Old Administration Ad-ministration Building, room 204. the film is free 'f to the public and is the first of four films on energy conservation being sponsored this month by the Cedar City Energy Conservation Center and the SUSC Division of Continuing Education. The energy-related series continues Oct. 15 with "Sunbuilders," Oct. 22 with "Build Your Own Greenhouse - Solar Style," and Oct. 29 with "The Power to Change." All films are free. "The Solar Promise" is anchored to Dr. Donald Aitken, former Director of Western SUN, who explains solar's potential to alleviate present energy problems. Along with a look at basic principles of solar energy, the film traces differences between passive and active systems and demonstrates demon-strates that the Anasazi Indians understood passive principles and used them in the design of their cliff dwellings. Funded by the Utah Energy Office, the Cedar City Energy Conservation Con-servation Center is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to noon on Fridays, telephone 586-6413. 586-6413. Dave Peterson and Raymond Gardner are center directors. They offer free consulting services, help with energy conservation projects, do energy audits and provide resource materials. In addition, the CCECC and SUSC Division of Continuing Education will sponsor a passive solar workshop on Nov. 14, Gardner said. 1 0 1 . .- -yS.
