Mr. and Mrs. Mack Thomas and small daughter, Claudia, returned to their home in Los Angeles on Saturday after visiting at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Morris, during the week. Their sister, Beth Morris, returned with them to spend the winter. Miss Lena Nelson left last Sunday Sun-day for Salt Lake City where she will remain until school opens in September. Mrs. Samuel Barnhurst returned return-ed Tuesday from visiting with relatives in Hatch, Panguitch and vicinity for the past three weeks. Scarlet. They wre guests of Mrs. Elmo R. Webster Tuesday evening on the "See St. George Tour" and expressed great appreciation for this opportunity of learning facts about the Dixie cotton mission. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cottam returned re-turned last Thursday from their summer vacation, Mr. Cottam will resume his teaching at the Woodward Wood-ward high.- They were accompanied accom-panied by his mother, Mrs. Edith Cottam of Provo, who visited her sister, Mrs. Emma B. Ashby and other relatives. Mrs. J. M. Cottam and Mrs. Orval Brown and infant son of Los Angeles were visiting Tuesday Tues-day at An tone Prince's home. They continued on to Salt Lake where they met Mrs. Cottam's son, Bob, who came by plane from Los Angeles. The party's destination destina-tion is Wellsville, where they will visit friends and relatives. LeRoy H. Cox motored to Provo over the week end to bring Mrs. Cox and their children home. They have been attending school the past six weeks at the B.Y.U. Mrs. George O. Holt is spending the week in St. George to be near her daughter, who is a patient at the local hospital, following injuries received when she was thrown from the horse she was riding. Mrs. Minnie Ahlstrom and son, Howard, returned Monday morning morn-ing from Hemet, Calif., where they have been visiting Dr. and Mrs. Wendell Robinson. Ross Syphus, Thomas and Ross McArthur returned Monday morning morn-ing from Boulder City and Mead Lake where they spent Sunday. The boys report having had plenty of excitement when the storm struck that section. Hats and umbrellas went with the wind, they state, and when one woman went chasing her rain-stick, rain-stick, the wind neatly cleared her picnic table, leaving her nothing but dust. James B. Nelson left Monday night for his home in Salt Lake City, having been here to attend the funeral services of his father, Wm. A. Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Nelson of Motoqua were St. George visitors over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Roy J. Fruth, and Mr. and Mrs. J. P. McCor-mick McCor-mick and daughter, Ruby Marie, returned to their homes in Los Angeles Tuesday. . Mrs. B. C. Covington and two children left for their home at Kanab Wednesday after visiting here several days with their mother, Mrs. Etta Finlayson. Mrs. Carol Lloyd accompanied them, expecting to remain a week. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Maloney and family of Virgin, spent Saturday Satur-day in St. George attending the William A. Mrs. Snow is reported making rapid recovery from recent surgery. Hafen Leavitt, star shot-put of the B.Y.U. visited in St. George Friday on his way home to Bunkerville from attending the 'Y' summer school. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brooks returned Tuesday from spending a week at Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyons. Mayor Albert E. Miller is reported re-ported to be making rapid recovery re-covery following a major operation opera-tion at the local hospital, on August 7. Mrs. Dean Boyak of Delta was a St. George visitor the latter part of last week at the home of her 'parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Moody. Discharges from the hospital during the past week include: John Zonver, Leeds CCC camp; James Williams, St. George CCC camp, and Jay Sevey, Bryce Canyon camp. |
