Show Road Commission Again Promises Action On Snow Canyon Road Commissioner Newell R. Frei, J. L. Wadsworth and Ivor Clove of the Enterprise Civics club, met with state road commissioners last Friday in Salt Lake City regarding regard-ing the St. George to Diamond Valley highway to go into Snow Canyon, with the result that assurance as-surance was given that bids would be submitted immediately and the roadwork begun this fall. There is $45,000 available and the commission thinks that will open the road through Snow Canyon and Diamond Valley over the survey that the highway department de-partment has already made and it is thought the county commissioners commis-sioners will use their equipment to straighten out other curves (Continued on page eight) iSnow Canyon Road (Continued from first page) in the road, thus a good dirt road will run from here to Enter-pr,se. Enter-pr,se. Delegation Here Enterprise sent a delegation of four to contact the Washington county commissioners to secure their assistance in transporting a bulldozer owned by the Wilson Mining interests to where the community has been clearing the road from Enterprise to the Nevada line. In cooperation with this group, representatives of the Business People's organization. Lions club. Rotary club and Chamber of Commerce went with the Enterprise Enter-prise representative to show that this community and its organizations organi-zations are back of Enterprise in this move. The group explained to the commissioners com-missioners that Mr. Wilson had promised the use of his company's com-pany's "Cat" if they would transport trans-port it to the place where the work was to be done. Since state equipment for this would be available avail-able when the county transported their equipment to the north end of the county, they asked that the commissioners lend them the equipment or do it themselves. The committee also called attention at-tention to the work that had been done by Enterprise to clear this road and get it so that a dirt road could be easily made with the heavy machinery. The commissioners promised to give the problem every consideration considera-tion and the group left with the feeling that they would agree to the request. |
