Jensen-Woodbury Duo begins concert series The Jensen-Woodbury Duo, classical guitarists, will be the beginning of a series of concerts to be held in the community. com-munity. The guitarists will perform July 9 in the Vernal Tabernacle at 7:30 pm There w ill be a small fee The series of concerts to be held in the community are sponsored by the Uintah Uin-tah Arts Council and Uintah Recreation Association. The Utah Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts made these concerts prissihle by giving the Uintah Arts Council a grant There will be several concerts of various artists during the summer months. During the fall there will be one a month. "Nothing is more beautiful than a guitar save, perhaps two," Frederick Chopin stated over a century ago Milton Jensen and Todd Woodbury began performing together in 1977. They received two standing ovations from their first audience in Salt Lake City in 1977. Thousands of people have heard them through many radio and television appearances. Not only are they performers, they also teach and do workshops and lecture-demonstrations. Milton Jensen is a graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music w here he studies w ith Michael Lorimer and George Sakellariou. He has also studied in Spain w ith Jose Thomas and in Italy with Uscar Ghigila. Mr. Jensen has given many solo recitals. In 1977 he gained national recognition as a prize winner in the guitar competition held at Carmel, Calif. He is considered to be one of the top teachers of classical guitar by students throughout the region. He conducts several master-classes and has an active ac-tive private teaching schedule. Todd Woodbury has studied guitar with Jose Duarte Coste in Lisbon, Portugal, Por-tugal, Oscar Ghigila at the Aspen Music Festival, George Sakallariou at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Jose Luis Lopatigul of Cervera, Spain. Not only has Mr. Woodbury performed perform-ed with the Jensen-Woodbury Duo for three years, but he has performed extensively ex-tensively with modern dance companies com-panies as a featured soloist. He is currently teaching guitar through the Division of Continuing Education at the University of Utah. The duo has become one of the area's most popular new chamber groups.
