According to Ed Zeiders, AVWSID manager, the two boards, Maeser and Ashley Valley, met Tuesday to discuss the potential cost of a treatment plant. The two boards are contemplating either constructing a treatment plant at Ashley Springs or in the mouth of Dry Fork Canyon at the Chocolate Rock water tank. "Thursday we won't present anything," Zeiders said. "At the next meeting we will have some concrete figures." Naples City has requested funds for a fire truck, city office, police equipment, road equipment and city park at a total request of $525,000. Naples City hopes to receive the money in a grant rather than a loan, as the Impact Board still has grant money available. The Uintah School District has submitted a request to the board for $8 million for construction of a new high school in Vernal. Total cost of the high school is estimated at $16.5 million. The school board hopes to generate the balance of the funds from energy companies and bonding. Uintah County hasn't submitted any requests for funds from the Community Impact Board, but they are looking at getting a loan for $3.5 million to widen U.S. Highway 40 south of Vernal to the , Davis Ward Junction to a four-lane highway. "We could wait five years for the state to do it or the county could do it in a year and then turn it over to the state," said Commissioner Neil Domgaard. Domgaard said the county would be reimbursed from the State Department of Transportation by them taking over the loan. The State Impact Board will meet Thursday at 9 a.m. at the State Capitol Building. |
