Show 30minute rule to be enforced on camping fees On July 16 a new and vigorous campground fee enforcement program will be implemented in charge campgrounds of National Forests in the Intermountain Region. The Intermountain Region includes Utah, southern Idaho, Nevada and southwestern south-western Wyoming. The Ashley National Forest and Flaming Gorge National Recreational Area will be vigorously pursuing this new approach. After July 16, a violation notice (no i warnings) will be issued to campers i occupying a site for over thirty minutes without paying the required fee. Required payment of camping fees i within thirty minutes has always been part of National Forest regulations '. posted at each campground where fees are charged. In past years, however, I many warning tickets were issued. It was noted that the vast majority of campers voluntarily complied and immediately paid their camping fee. A small number who did not were involving large amounts of personnel and expense, especially when warnings were issued and followed through Under the new program, warn : and extra expense will be eliminate ; while it is expected that fee receitf, : will be increased. Forest campers S be expected to read and follow readT -available instructions at entries to fee area. When violations occur , ' ticket will be issued. ' Next year all recreation user fees wai be returned to the Forest collect them. This should benefit both the ' condition of the sites that campers in and the efforts of the Forest ii - maintaining those sites. |
