Show Sanitation a must for Salt Lake gatherings The Salt Lake City-County Board of Health requires promoters of mass gatherings to provide sanitation and first-aid facilities for participants. The new regulations, under consideration for the past year, cover a wide range of events from drag races and rock concerts to the Widowmaker Hill Climb for motorcyclists every spring at Point of the Mountain. High school athletic events are among gatherings exempt ex-empt from the rules, said health department executive Director Dr. Harry L. Gibbons. Sponsors of the annual Days of 47 parade will have to comply with the regulations which state that at least one emergency medical technician has to be on duty along with one more for each 2,500 people. Drinking fountains, fully-equipped first-aid stations, urinals and lavatories have to be provided, the amount depending on the number of people. |
