Show Union loses to Morgan The Union Cougars suffered their second se-cond Region Nine loss in a row when they were nipped by the Trojans in Morgan, Friday, 59 to 53. Morgan jumped out to a 16' to 3 lead in the first quarter, but Union cut Morgan's lead to one point at 26 to 25 due to a 22 point explosion ex-plosion in the second quarter. The Trojans Tro-jans scored ten points in the second quarter. Morgan scored two more points in the third quarter to take a 43 to 40 lead and went on to win the game by the score of 59 to 53. The Trojans outscored the Cougars in the fourth quarter, 16 to 13. The top scorer for Union was Steve Robb with 21 ponts. Robb fired in ten field goals and hit 1 out of 3 free throws. Bryan Snow put in ten points on four field goals and two free throws. Also scoring points for Union were: Jerry Kulland, 8; Ronnie Gates, 7; Steve Ferguson, 4; Len Frandsen, 1; Cory Dye, 1 and Danny Rawlings, 1. Union put in 20 field goals and hit 13 out of 23 free throws. Morgan's top scorers were Stenberg, 21 and Peterson, 17. The Trojans fired in 23 field goals and hit 13 out of 20 free throws. Lehi and Intermountain are in first place in Region Nine with 2-0 records. Grantsville and Morgan are tied for third place at 1-1. Union and Wasatch are tied for fifth place at 0-2. Union has an overall record of 4-6. The Union Cougars will host Intermountain, Inter-mountain, Friday and will battle Wasatch in Roosevelt, January 23. The Cougars will battle Lehi on the road, January 30 and will host Grantsville, February 5. Intermountain blasted the Wasatch Wasps, 95 to 62 and Lehi nipped Grantsville, Grant-sville, 57 to 54, last week. The top scorers for Intermountain were Sullivan, 28; Talkalai, 14; Miller, Hand Moreno, 14. Intermountain fired in 40 field goals and hit 15 out of 27 free throw attempts. Wasatch's high scorers were Baird, 12 and Murdock, 10. Wasatch put in 26 field goals and hit 10 out of 18 free throw attempts. |
