Show Jensen home damaged by fire A Jensen fire caused extensive damage to the Keith Peterson home last Thursday. The Vernal Fire Department was dispatched at 11:06 p.m. to extinguish the fire which caused $8,000 in damages to the home and $5,000 to its contents. Cause of the fire was a portable electric heater used in the bedroom, reported firemen. It is the second time the Peterson home has been damaged by fire. Two hay stack fires caused about $4,500 in damages and is thought to have been arson. At about 9:19 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, Mrs. Virgil Robb reported seeing the fire in a hay field belonging to Max Todd about 3 miles north on the old airport air-port road. The Roosevelt Fire Department Depart-ment arrived at the scene and after 30 minutes a second fire sprang up about 500 feet away from the original fire. Both fires were easily accessible from the road. ""Vernal Firemen extinguished a minor fire at the Sharlene Mathiesen residence, 165 South 100 West. Cause of the fire was a spark catching the shingle roof on fire. Damages were minimal. Firemen also answered to a call to a flue fire at 512 South 2180 West at the Harold Langley residence last Sunday. No damage was listed. |
