Show Divine Veal Entree Treats Guests to Gourmet Dinner Treat dinner guests to a taste of gourmet dining with an entree that subtly mingles the flavors of breaded veal round steak, thinly sliced ham, mushroom sauce and cheese. This delicately flavored fla-vored meat provides a divine culinary treat when prepared by this recipe, says Reba Staggs, home economist, National Na-tional Live Stock and Meat Board. Veal Divine 1 to 2 pounds veal round steak, cut inch thick 1 egg, beaten teaspoon salt y8 teaspoon pepper cup commercial bread crumbs 3 tablespoons lard or drippings 1 can (10 ounces) condensed mushroom soup cup water 3 slices "boiled" ham cup grated sharp -Cheddar cheese Paprika Pound steaks on both sides. Cut steaks into 6 servings. Mix together egg, salt and pepper. Dip veal in egg mixture mix-ture and then in crumbs. Brown in lard or drippings. Add water to mushroom soup and mix well. Pour soup over veal. Cover tightly and cook slowly on top of range or bake in a slow pven (325Ft.) 30 minutes. Cut ham slices in half. Place y ham slice over each veal serving. Cover and continue cooking 15 minutes, min-utes, or until veal is tender. Sprinkle cheese over ham. Cover and continue cooking until cheese is melted, about 10 minutes. Sprinkle with paprika. 6 servings. |
