Show UHP radio dispatcher retires After 24 years and two months as a Utah Highway Patrol radio dispatcher Aaron Wilkins served his last day Monday. Mon-day. When he started as a dispatcher for the Vernal office on Feb. 1, 1956, he was up on the second floor of what is now the Utah Gas Service Co. building. During all these years a lot of things have happened, Wilkins reflected, every day is different. "I have enjoyed my work and hope it has proved of value to the community and the individuals I have served. I have been in a place where I could help many people in time of emergency and need," Wilkins said. , "Now I plan on doing some of the things I have never had time to do. Taking Tak-ing care of my 30-acre farm will keep me occupied," Wilkins mused. Wilkins and his wife, Grace have five children and eight grandchildren. Wilkins said he has a job in his wife's dress shop if he wants it, Ginger Wamsley, Neola will replace Wilkins in the Vernal UHP radio dispatch office. |
