Show Flooding conditions exist for Ashley Creek U.S. Soil Conservation Service snow surveys for April show that the Uinta - watershed has the heaviest snow accumulations ac-cumulations in many years. The potential for flooding along Ashley Creek is very high, if the area has a cold spring and the weather warms up quickly. The surveys indicate there should be adequate water for irrigation in the local area if the weather vill bring runoff to the valley in a way it can be used. The snow surveys were completed by Ron Dudley and Ron Christensen of the Soil Conservation District. On the Whiterocks River and Dry Fork drainage at Mosby Mountain there is 57 inches of snow with 19.6 inches of water; this is 224 percent of average. On January 1st this snow course was only 40 percent of average. At Paradise Park there is 69 inches of snow with ia.3 inches of water; this is 163 percent of average. The rain gauge catch from October 1st is 137 percent of average. At Trout Creek on Ashley Creek there is 58 inches of snow with 18.1 inches of water; this is 180 percent of average. On the Brush Creek Drainage at Grizzly Ridge there is 56 inches of snow with 17.3 inches of water; this is 198 percentof average. The rain gauge catch from October 1st is 153 percent of average. At Kings Cabin Upper there is 56 inches of snow with 18.5 inches of water; this is 188 percent of average. On the North slope of the Uinta's at Spirit Lake there is 65 inches of snow with 19.1 inches of water; this is 158 percent of average. The rain gauge catch from October 1st is 130 percent of average. At Hickerson Park there is 42 inches of snow with 14.6 inches of water; this is 247 percent of average. At Burnt Creek there is 28 inches of snow with 7.8 inches of water; this is 170 percent of average. |
