Show Water system unapproved As of Tuesday, April 1, the Utah State Board of Health has stamped the Vernal water system "unapproved" which will stop any future government loan guarantees to the area. Before Tuesday, the Vernal water svstem was labeled "unapproved pending" which didn't stop any loans, but the state Board of Health has changed its grading system for water systems. The new system put all "unapproved pending" systems into the "unapproved" category. According to Lee Hocks, Fanner's Home Association, Salt Lake City, everyone on Vernal City's water system cannot receive a government loan if the system is unapproved. Councilman Gene Anfinson contested the action of the State Board of Health saying that the system meets the requirements of the board. To be approved, the system must provide 400 gallons storage per connection, con-nection, plus show progress toward installing a water treatment plant. According to Anfinson, the city system has the 400 gallon storage, and is moving toward a treatment plant. Thecity has been invited to meet with tne State Board of Health in Salt Lake City Friday, April 4, to discuss the grading of the water system. |
