Show children of grantsville Grants ville stake enjoy festival 1 41 ki 15 J JP children from all wards of the grantsville Grants ville stake took part in and enjoyed the program of the the harvest festival sponsored by the grantsville Grants ville stake primary board for the boys and girls of the stake was a colorful and nap hap py event the festival started with the miniature parade made up of primary children from the various wards marching from the post of fice corner to the second ward amusement hall all the children were in cos tume and entries in the parade included decorated doll buggies scooters bicycles tricycles and wagons all adding greatly to the spectacle heading the parade were mar shall earl hale of grantsville Grants ville and deputy sheriff fay gillette of the tooele thoele county sheriff sheriffs s office the colors were carried by three mary boys van palmer of the second ward bryon allward M allward of the first ward and leonard green of the st john ward the stake banner was carried by stanley bracken arid dell russell of st john to add color and spirit to the parade were rayda higginson una jean brown and dorothy twirlers and doreen perry and les lie hunter drummers of the grant aville high school in costume the wards followed each head ed by a ward banner all the child ren were costumed and each ward had a good representation from its miniature floats cov ered wagons doll buggies drum corps and decorated bicycles were among the outstanding entries the state police halted the braf fie fic on the main street while the children were parading following the parade the song and dance festival was held in the second ward amusement hall when primary songs and folk dan ces were featured each ward pre dented one dance number and a special number a song or read ing and all wards joined in opa one number with eighty young folle folla taking part in the dance making up 10 sets of eight dancers each the tiny folk numbering sixty presented two dances looby lou and jump jim crow to the great enjoyment of the audience ap proximately children took part in the festival A large number of parents and primary friends enjoyed the par ade and dance display and also the display on the stage at the hall of the handicraft of the children of the wards made during the past year af light ag h t r refreshments were ser set ved after te th the e program the mus c and and dancing was und er the direction of mrs george F hammond and mrs joseph B el fors the primary board desires to ex press their appreciation to the high school students who helped to the state and county police for the safety they provided for the child ren and to the ward primary As parents and children for the time and effort they spent in making the festival a success and t to 0 bishop johnson for the use of the second ward f fac ac I 1 ties harvest festival presented on thursday evening august 21 old time songs and dances pre dented by the children in cos made up the program with refreshments served later |
