Show I Gresn River"! LIBRARIANS ATTEND MEETING Mrs. Fern Harmon and Mrs. Ann Nord together with Mrs. Elene Bonine and I attended a workshop meeting at Castle Dale on Wednesday, conducted conduct-ed by Mrs. Stanley Mathis, County Librarian. Several problems of small library management were discussed dis-cussed and various skills were demonstrated. One of the latter was the application of a most attractive plastic cover to old books, with the title printed in block letters. The meeting was held at the Senior Citizen Center, and included a delicious chicken dinner. The Center is a fine facility, and encourages Green River to try to get the Legion Hall going. Mrs. Eva Connover, Ferron, gave the main address. She is a member of the State Library Board, and talked about decisions facing that group from time to time. The next workshop will be held in Green River on May 12, with librarians from the county, the library board and people from the State Library invited to participate. It will be held at the Lemieux Cafe dining room, and will also include some of the local Woman's Club officers, as Woman's Club has designated itself as Friends of the Library. WORD OF DEATH Word was received here during the holiday season that Lauris Cheney had died the past year. He was the last of the family. The Cheneys lived in the home where Englemans now live, having sold to Delbert Tidwell, who sold to David and Phyllis a couple of years ago. COMPLETES COURSE Trevor Whiteside completed his course in Mining Engineering Engineer-ing and received his Fire Boss papers after 3 days of testing at Carbon College recently. He has been working for Valley Coal Company at Clear Creek and going to school nights. The last day of testing he was required to map a complete mine, with all ventilators and other installations in place. STANLEY HUNT FAMILY VISITS Children of Stanley and Donna Hunt have been visiting them the past few days. The ones still at home are suffering from the "plague1" for which Green River has received statewide notice the past day or two. Warrant Officer Earl Jewkes, Jeanine and Tyler and Sherri have been here until Earl left for Germany. He has been stationed in Texas where he was a helicopter pilot and instructor. Jeanine is spending some time here and in Orangeville, before she leaves to join him in Germany. Mrs. Randy Pulham of Orem is visiting a few days while her husband and his father are on a painting job in the other end of the county. Donnamay stopped briefly Sunday evening. She had been with a group from BYU who had gone down to Monticello to attend the Scott Rasmussen farewell. Scott was a classmate class-mate of theirs and he will be in the mission field in Japan now. PAT GAHAGAN TOUKS Pat Gahagan returned recently re-cently from a tour which took him to Texas, Louisana, New Mexico, Mexico, California and Nevada. Pat is looking, he says for a good place to winter, and thinks he will opt for the ghettos of New Orleans until Mardi Gras time when he will move up town to a better location. Although he had a good trip, he was glad to be back in the land of sunshine again. MRS. POLITANO BETTER Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Politan, Sr., enjoyed a visit on Sunday from Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chiodo, of Grand Junction. Mrs. Politan is able to get around a bit now, after a long seige which started with a couple of weeks in the hospital about three months ago.
