Show City Court. - . Appearing in City Court Jan. 21 was Kenneth Casey, for preliminary hearing on a charge of forgery, a felony in the third degree. Following presentation of evidence, he was bound over to District Court and ordered to appear for arraignment Feb. 17. His bond was continued in the sum of $1,000. Casey also appeared Jan. 21 on a charge of issuing a series of bad checks. After some of the evidence was presented County Attorney Bill Benge moved to dismiss the case on the basis of the evidence presented, and the case was dismissed. Jerry Cowan and Eddie Stewart appeared Jan. 23 on the charge of speed contest. In this trial City Attorney R. H. Ruggeri appeared on behalf of Moab City, and the plaintiffs appeared without counsel. After the evidence was presented, pres-ented, the defendants were found guilty by City Judge Don Crist, and they were sentenced to pay fines of $50, or in default of payment to serve 10 days in jail. Donald Val Caldwell appeared ap-peared Jan. 26 on a charge of driving while intoxicated and driving during revocation. He entered a plea of guilty to both of the charges and was sentenced to pay a fine of $299 on the drunk driving charge, and $200 on the driving during revocation charge. He was also sentenced to serve 60 days in 1 jail, with the jail sentence and $199 of the fine suspended ; upon payment of the balance J of the fine and compliance I with the terms of one years 1 probation. George Ervin Percival, Magna, Elmer Vincent Miller, and Robert Lawrence Pipkin, all appeared Jan. 26 and 27 on charges of driving while intoxicated. Each entered a plea of guilty to these separate charges, and each defendant was sentenced to pay a fine of $200 and to serve 40 days in jail, with the jail sentences suspended upon payment of the fines and successful completion of one years probations. |
