Show Dumping Trash At Lake Powell I A Big Problem The National Park Service is soliciting the residents of Page and the visitors to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area for assistance in stem- ming the increasing incidents j of the dumping of trash on the ( Recreation Area lands. There have been a number of ( reports by visitors to the Area, . as well as by Rangers on patrol, of finding piles of trash along the back roads and along the shores of Lake Powell. One ' particular area of concern is the terrace area just northeast of the Dam. Not only is trash being dumped, but a considerable consider-able amount of old engine oil is being disposed of in this area. The National Park Service, is requesting those persons littering lit-tering or dumping trash or oil in the Recreation Area to use regular approved disposal procedures. If other citizens observe someone dumping or littering, please ask them to stop. If that does not work, secure a name or license number and report it to the Park Rangers. Most people want a beautiful area in which to live and visitors will come to an area only if it is pleasing to them. |
