Troops in Moab are working on different states for the Thinking Day program on Saturday, February 21. Can you believe cookie time will be here next month? Be sure your girl is registered. No one may sell cookies without being registered. District VII Skills Day will be held Saturday, March 13, of Girl Scout week. This is an all day event and all troops are currently learning to tie knots, chop wood and build fires. The big event of the day, we hope, will be a contest between Senior Girl Scouts and Explorer Explor-er Boy Scouts. This will be a knot tying, lashing and chariot race contest. Girls have invited the boys but we haven't heard yet officially. Council wide encampment at Camp Williams for the bicentennial bicen-tennial year will be May 6 to 9. There will be 17 exciting workshops to take part in on Saturday and these will be on bicentennial topics such as rope making, quilling, natural dyes, local herbs and dutch oven cooking, etc. New leader for 2nd grade Brownie troop is Eris Young, not new to Scouting as she was a leader for juniors and cadettes in the late 1960s. Welcome back to scouting! Senior Penny Martin is helping Brownie troop 329 with Camp Skills Day problems. prob-lems. Jan Oliveto, Field Advisor for District VII, spent Tuesday morning in Moab working with leaders and showed slides of the three established camps in Utah and one at White Pine, Nevada. Jan and Neighborhood Neighbor-hood Chairman Robin Hen-ningson Hen-ningson will spend two days with troops in Montieello, Bluff and Montezuma Creek. |
