Show Moab Child Hospitalized After Being Hit by Car A Moab child is hospitalized in Grand Junction this week following a pickup-bike accident acci-dent in which he was injured Jan. 22 and for which police found the driver to free of fault. Shaun Stainbrook, 8, left the Burr's American Station parking park-ing lot south of the Main and Center Streets intersection at" 5:10 p.m. on his bicycle. He rode across the street towards the Canyonlands Motel and was hit by a 1974 Chevrolet pickup driven by Kathryn Ruble, who was driving south. Shaun was treated at Allen Memorial Hospital and later transferred to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, where he was reported to be recovering satisfactorily thjs week. There were no citations issued as no negligence on the part of the driver was found. On Jan. 23 at 1:30 p.m. between 2nd and 3rd South Streets Pete Harrison, driving a 1976 Ford pickup, had stopped for a vehicle to make a left turn in front of him, and was hit from the rear by a 1976 Ford pickup driven by Scott Peterson and owned by Peterson Peter-son Ford. There was about $100 damage to the Harrison vehicle and $800 to the Peterson Ford vehicle. Police report that faulty equipment appeared to be involved, and the accident is still under investigation. At 7:30 p.m. Jan. 25, Jimmy Johnson was injured when he fell from a moving 1971 Ford pickup driven by Bobby Tibbetts. The Tibbetts vehicle ran through a fence in back of Louis Schwab Chevron Station south of Moab, doing about $400 damage to the pickup and $100 damage to the fence. Johnson was taken to Allen Memorial Hospital and transferred trans-ferred to Grand Junction for treatment of injuries. On Jan. 26 at 11:15 p.m. on Mill Creek Drive, Robert L. Pipkin, driving east in a 1974 Ford pickup struck and sheared shear-ed off a power pole, doing about $450 damage to the pole and $2,000 damage to the vehicle. He was charged with driving under the influence of an intoxicating liquor and incarcerated. Jan. 27 at 6:10 a.m. on 4th East, Homer Lewis Manson, Jr., had parked a 1975 Ford pickup in a driveway and the brakes did not hold. It rolled out of the driveway and hit another 1975 Ford pickup doing about $200 damage to the parked vehicle and $50 damage to the rolling vehicle. Both belong to Beeman Drilling. No citations were issued. |
