There are four troops: 368, leader Mrs. Shields; 329, leader Mrs. Webb; 255, leader Mrs. Moore; and Mrs. Young's troop 570. These Brownies work very hard on many things and learn to do each well. People tend to think that the Brownies do not accomplish or do much but in this neighborhood neighbor-hood our Brownies do a lot and we are certainly very proud of them. Troop 368 has been working work-ing on the homemaker badge. Also at their last meeting, they each planted a small plant in a cup and are going to return in a few weeks to see how it has grown. By mistake they were not mentioned as participating partici-pating in Skills Day held recently but they were there and did a fine job. Troop 329 has been making Friendship boxes. These boxes are given to the Red Cross who then distributes them to children where disasters have occured. They contain small toys, paper and pencil, and other small children needs. Troop 255 is getting ready for camp which is coming up soon. They are learning various camp skills, which will be useful at many times, especially camping. They will be coloring Easter eggs at this weeks meeting. Troop 570 just became a Green Grasshopper Penant Troop. This requires a lot of work and we congratulate you. They have also been finishing Horizons requirements and will each be awarded a beautiful patch. They learned how to tie off small lap pads and gave them to the people in the Solarium at the hospital. Also being made for the hospital are two Bicentennial pillows. The troop is working very hard on their hidden heroine and are planning a program for her to be held soon. At the last meeting each girl made an egg shell garden and completed their Troop Nationality Tree. All enjoyed the cookout in Devils Garden which was held recently. They are working flag ceremony which will be presented at the upcoming parents program. Also planned is a parents cookout. This busy troop is working on two service projects: pro-jects: cleaning up of the area around the church where they meet and the second is the making of tray favors for the hospital. Two of the troops, 329 and 570 went on a field trip to the hospital where they presented the lap pads and entertained the people of the Solarium with various songs. We would like to congratulate congratu-late these troops and leaders for the work they do and the time they spend preparing for new things to do and by making others happy with these things. From the troops who were selling cookies we would like to thank all the people who bought cookies. Part of the money from each box sold comes back to the neighborhood neighbor-hood and is put to one of many good uses. If by chance you were not contacted or would like more boxes the Senior Troop 190 will be selling them at the Boy Scout Barbecue this Friday the 16th. The Training Van will be here April 22 from 9:30 to 3:30 with open sales to leaders for badges and other things they might need from 3 to 4. |
