Show District Court Session Held Here on Tuesday Seventh Judicial District Court was in session Tuesday with Judge Edward Sheya presiding, and a large number of matters were disposed of during the session. Trial settings were confirmed confirm-ed in the cases of the State of Utah vs. Max Woodward and the State of Utah vs. Robert Hotz. Gary W. Sheeley, who was referred in January to the Board of Corrections for tests and mental evaluation prior to sentencing, was returned to the court in Price for sentencing sentenc-ing Monday. The Board of Corrections reported that Mr. Sheeley's record was very good in that he cooperated with the omcials, observed all the rules and regulations, and was making good progress. Judge Sheya sentenced Sheeley to a maximum of 1 year in the Grand County Jail, but permitted him to continue to reside and work at a halfway house in Salt Lake City rather than spend the time of his sentence in jail at taxpayers expense. In the case "of the State of Utah vs. Carroll Junior Mea-dor Mea-dor the defendant appeared in person to defend against an extension of 2 years in his probation, which was sought by the State and by the Probation Department. The State contended that Mr. Meador had done very well for a long period of time while on probation, but that as it continued, he had committed several violations. Mr. Meador finally conced- ed that he may have violated the terms of this probation and agreed that the court could extend it for 2 years, which was done. The adoption of Ronald Lee Bogdon by Timothy Hilliard was granted by Judge Sheya. The court took the following actions regarding the probate calendar: approved the final account and granted distribution distribu-tion in the estate of Francis M. Marsing; granted petition for letters of administration in the estate of Ruby Lucille Black; granted a final accounting and distribution in the estate of Elmer Ellis; ordered that due and legal notice to the creditors of Tora McPherson had been given; and granted the final accounting and ordered distribution in the estate of Myrtle Rose Austin. The following divorces were granted: Kathryne M. Welch from Robert J. Welch; Charles L. McCormick from Lucille McCormick; and Lynda Kay Steen from Andrew Kirk. Steen. A motion to dismiss was considered by the court in the case of Darrel Ross and wife vs. Book Cliff Lodge, a partnership. Both sides presented pre-sented written memoranda for the court to read and asked that Judge Sheya rule from the pleadings and memoranda rather than to hear oral arguments. This matter was taken under advisement. 'ir-T ' |
