Show Patrol investigated many f accidents during week ' After a number of relatively rela-tively quiet weeks, the Utah Highway Patrol investigated in-vestigated a number of accidents in the area during dur-ing the last week. On March 13 at 11 p.m. 14 mile south of Moab on US 163, Carol Lynne Bleak, 27, Salt Lake City, was driving south in a 1978 Datson, accompanied accompan-ied by Niccole Celling, 20 of Moab. She stated she applied brakes when she realized the speed of her vehicle, 80 mph. She lost control and the vehicle overturned, overturn-ed, going off the right side of the roadway. There were no injuries, but there was about $1,000 damage to the vehicle. Trooper John Mealy cited her for speeding. On March 16 at 2:30 a.m. 32 miles east of Crescent Junction on 1-70, Vernon Andrew Todd, Valdosta. Ga., was driving a 1968 Dodge van owned by Gregory Gabel, Cleveland, Ohio, who was a passenger. A second passenger was Steve Simpson, New Hampshire. Hamp-shire. Trooper Lynn Pierson, who investigated, said the vehicle ran off the right shoulder of the road; the driver overcorrected; and the vehicle came back on the road and rolled twice. Todd was cited for failure to maintain control. There was about $1,000 damage to the vehicle. Also March 16 at 6:45 p.m. 4 miles north of Moab on the Delicate Arch road in Arches National Park another accident ac-cident occurred. Gilbert Wayne Flynn, 17, Moab, was driving southwest in a 1968 Pontiac, accompanied accompan-ied by Kerry Stainbrook, 16, Moab. He reported he saw a deer near the road and applied brakes, causing the vehicle to skid about 70 feet. It struct an embankment em-bankment and overturned. over-turned. The vehicle was totaled but occupants were not injured. Investigating Investi-gating Trooper John Mealy did not issue a citation. cita-tion. On March 18 at 7 a.m. 20 miles East of Thompson on 1-70, Elison Elane Sinclair, 19, Anaheim, Ca., was driving driv-ing west in a 1969 VV and apparently fell asleep. The vehicle went off the left side of the road and overturned. The driver was ejected through the left door and was taken by ambulance to Allen Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries. She was cited by Trooper tim' Wall for speed too fast for conditions. The vehicle sustained about .$2,500 damage. On March 19 at 6:55 p.m. at the intersection of . Main and 1st South there was a collision between a Moab Police Department vehicle and the vehicle of a private citizen. Officer Phillip Tanner Porter, 22, was driving North on Main in a 1977 Ford LTD police car, in pursuit of another behicle, but without with-out emergency lights flashing. jl' Ray Branscom, 65 ' Moab, was driving east oii V 1st South and entered i. the intersection on a grees ' light.
