Show New zoning ordinance j discussed by concerned j at Commission meeting i The new zonimg ordinance for Grand County, currently being prepared prior to public hearing and adoption, was a subject of discussion at the regular meeting of the County Commission Monday. Gene day, BLM District Manager, had requested an audience before the Commission to clarify his position as to county zoning. Del Backus, also BLM, Ev Schumaker and Ken McDougald of the Water Conservancy District, Paul Rattle, State Land Board member, Jim McPherson and John Keogh, Planning Commission, were also present. Day stated the Bureau of Land Management is not trying to supersede super-sede anything the county is doing regarding zoning and the Mill Creek project and dam. He said he feels there should be closer communication between his agency and the Commission, and that from now on he will meet with the Commission to keep them informed of upcoming projects the BLM is planning. He also emphasized the BLM is interested in county-wide zoning and would like to lund support, not interfere with county planning. ARer considerable discussion regardmg the zoning ordinance currently being studied by the Planning Commission, those present wore assured that public hearings will bo held to elicit input from all interested parties before ' t'o ordinance is adopted. I In other business, Bob Green- I berg, of the Four Comers Mental J Health Center, discussed what was done at an open house held there i recently. He discussed billings and collections, how therapists spend j their time, crisis calls, unpaid I overtime, and what happens when I someone needs help. The commissioners voted to close down the Silver Dollar within 5 days, to remain closed until the State Sanitarian has approved j renewal of beer and business I licenses. I UDOT Commissioner Sam Taylor and School Superintendent Bill Mendor urged the commission to obtain rights of way for the cutoff from Highway 163 to Holyoak lane, j Taylor said the UDOT commission I has allocated monies to widen US-163 from McDougald Oil to Garrett hill, but wants this cutoff put in before proceeding with the widening project. Commissioners agreed to contact property owners j along this route to see if rights of way can be obtained . Jerry Epperson, Ijirry Kood, J times Cnpps and James StiU'S j wore appointed deputy sheriffs and bail commissioners with authority j to accept appearance bail in lieu of I detention for violations of the I'tah Code in Canvonlands and Arvhes National Parks.
