Show Meeting set on power plant . . . A public meeting is scheduled next Tuesday night in Green River to discuss a proposed study on the feasibility of locating a huge nuclear power facility in that area. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the High School auditorium. A number of State Legislators are planning on attending the meet, along with executives of the Utah Energy Conservation and Development Council. This is the group which will recommend whether or not to involve in the federally-sponsored study. A Green River spokesman told The Times-Independent Monday that residents of his community were hoping for a large turnout from all communities in Southeastern Utah. "Whether we're for or against the proposed plant, we feel the study should be made," he said, urging people of all viewpoints to attend. "We would be unhappy if attendance were so small that one small group of people of like opinions could carry the day," he said. |
