Day Services held March 21 for Rowene Day Rowene Lucinda Day, 67, wife of Wayne Day, died at Allen Memorial Hospital on March 18, following an extended illness. Rowene was born Sept. 24, 1911 in Moab to Oscar H. and Irene M. Allred Stewart. She attended local schools and on Dec. 31, 1928 she married Wayne Day. They lived in Rains, Carbon County, Utah for over 20 years and returned to Moab in 1956 where they owned and operated the Grand Valley Motel. They sold the motel in 1976 and moved into a new home in west Moab where she spent many happy hours. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Joyce Day Basso, Price; 2 sons, Jack and Jerry Day, Moab; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Boyd Stewart. She was known as a wonderful wife and mother, moth-er, and was loved dearly by her husband, children and grandchildren. She had many friends and was always a gracious person, kind and loving. She went out of her way to help less fortunate people. Funeral services were held March 21 in the LDS First Ward Chapel with Bishop Leonard Burton officiating. Opening prayer was by Lynn Day. Lynn Hawks was the speaker and gave the closing clo-sing prayer. Lynn Day dedicated the grave and family prayer was by Max Day. Sandra Foy played the prelude and postlude. Two musical selections were sung by Jim Walker and Jack Stewart. Pallbearers were Mike Day, Jerry Day, Jr., Shane Basso, Allen Day, Jeff Day and Marcus Morris. Interment was in Grand Valley Cemetery under the direction of Hefner's Funeral Home. |
