Show BLM campgrounds ready for new visitor season According to C. Delano Backus, Grand Resource Area Manager of the Bureau of Land Management, Manage-ment, water will be turned on March 22 in Wind-whistle Wind-whistle and Hatch Point campgrounds. A $2.00 use fee will be charged for overnight camping at Windwhistle Campground this season. Funds received receiv-ed from this use will go to the Land Water Conservation Con-servation Fund which is used to purchase needed recreation lands throughout through-out the country. Fees have not been collected at Windwhistle Campground in the past due to lack of manpower and visitation. However, we will now be charging use fees to comply with the Land Water Conversation Conversa-tion Fund Act. Fees are required at developed sites which have water, tables, and restroom facilities faci-lities if visitation offsets the cost of actually collecting collect-ing the fees. Hatch Point Campground does not receive re-ceive heavy enough use to warrant fee collection at this time. Windwhistle and Hatch Point Campgrounds Camp-grounds are two popular attractions within the Canyon Can-yon Rims Recreation Area administered by the Bureau of Land Management. Manage-ment. Additional attractions attract-ions include the Needles Overlook and Anticline Overlook where spectacular spectacu-lar panoramas may be viewed. |
