Show PIONEER DAUGHTERS HEAR SEEGMILLER Professor Frank K. Seegmiller of the Latter-day Saints university spoke to a meeting of the Dauphters.of Utah Pioneers Pio-neers held yesterday In the Bishop's building, on the subject, "Coronado and Escalante." Professor Seegmiller described de-scribed in detail the travels of the two great figures in western history, telling how Coronado and the Spaniards and Escalante and the Catholic friars first made their explorations in what is now Utah. The motive of the explorers, he said, was for "gold, glory and gospel." He told of Father on;nguez and the manner in which the early explorers made friends with the Indians. Mrs. Elizabeth P. Kayward, president of the organisation, presided at the meeting. Mrs. Uva Aird sang two solos, Mrs. Minnie Min-nie H. James offered the invoca lion and Mrs. Chaplain Margaret Sharp the benediction. bene-diction. John W. Jacobs, executive secretary of the Utah Public Health association, asked the association to assist in the Red Cross Christmas seal sale. Mrs. Fannie C. Woodruff was appointed chairman chair-man to select a committee to assist in the sale of the seals. |
