Show Quiet Reported in Virginia RICHMOND. Va., Nov. 24. Quiet prevails pre-vails in l-.ee county, where recent firing on miners desiring to return to work cauped Governor Davis to call out five companies, Of state troops. Tho troops were stopped at Koanoke today, await -Ing orders from Ihe governor, who went to St, Charles, the center of the mining district, to Investigate conditions. Coal operators at Bt. Charles, according to advices tonight, expressed the belief that no further disorders wore likely. Radical miners, it was said, mounted rifles OH the hilltops near the mine shafts and fired at m' ti entering Ihe shafts, but nobody was, hurt. GoVefnOr Davis appealed to Hie miners at St. Charles today to- maintain order. |
