Impressive funeral services for Judge George F. Goodwin, who died Saturday, wero held at the First Methodist Episcopal Epis-copal church at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Wasatch lodge No. 1 of the Masonic order had charge of the services. The Knights Templar, in full uniform, escorted the basket to the church and attended at-tended in a body. Dr. Francis B. Short, chaplain of Wasatch Wa-satch lodge and former pastor of the First Methodist church, who was a personal per-sonal friend of Judgo Goodwin, paid tribute trib-ute to the character of Ills friend and to Die meat influence which lie wielded in the community. "Those who really knew Judge Goodwin; Good-win; those who got close to him. knew that his motives were always prompted bv the highest ideals," said Dr. Short. "Thev knew that he always meant to do the right and honorable thing and that means a great deal. A man of high ideals is always sure Lo Impress the community in which ho lives. Ten years from now the community will be able to form a correct estimate o his worth to the world."' Mrs. A. S. Peters rendered the solo, "One Sweetly Solemn Thought," and Alex Enerhardt sang "Crossing the Ear." Following Fol-lowing the eulogy delivered- by Dr. Short, Miss Lola Schraek sang "Love Divine." The ritual service of the lodge was observed ob-served and Captain Samuel Paul, the oldest old-est Mason present, offered the prayer of the. Knights Templar. .lames Philip Watte, worshipful master of Wasatch lodge, presided pre-sided at the Masonic ceremonies. The active pallbearers were C. It. Fisher, Fish-er, Captain Samuel Paul, W. J. Earrette, F. B. Critchlow, J. C. McClain and Judge C. W. Morse. The honorary pallbearers pallbear-ers were Fred Eberhardt, H. H. TCowe, F. F. Mills, H. J. Sterns, E. O. Lee and Freeman Morningstar. Floral offerings covered the casket and flowed over the steps and platform of tlie pulpit. Jurists, members of the clergy, business men, lodge members and a host of friends filled the church. Masonic Ma-sonic services were held at the grave in Ml. Olivet cemetery. |
