Show Appeal to Householders. Louis F. Post, assistant secretary of labor, tonight appealed to the householders house-holders of the couutry to employ for "odd jobs" unskilled workers who will bo thrown out of work once a week be-enhsp be-enhsp of the Monday closing order. "Make .Monday 'odd job Monday,' " said Mr. Post. "Nearly every householder house-holder in the industrial sections most affected doubtless can offer some odd jobs to these men and women, whereby they may earn something on the closed days. If each householder should, during dur-ing this period, arrange to have all odd jobs, such as the removal of ashes, repairing, cleaning, etc., performed on .Monday, eninloyment would be giveu to many, "Such an arrangement, furthermore, would be a "rent, benefit to householders household-ers who of late have had great difficulty diffi-culty in obtaining help for such casual work. The same plan might be well adopted by municipalities' and private concerns who similarly have found it '"lf ieult to obtain casual labor." |
