Pe terse n, son of Mrs. Elizabeth Petersen, 7l' East Fifth South street, was killed in action on September 2!t, according to word received last night. Young" Petersen was a member of the !fil-ncl infantry and left for overseas duty after training at Camp Lewis. "He leaves his mother and the following brothers and sisters: W. R., W. H., C. TI.. P. M., L. JO., Clifford 11.. P.. .IT. and Lyman Petersen Peter-sen ; Mrs. Frank Hughes, Airs. David llimhes, Mrs. F. J. Ward and Mrs. G. F. Olsen. Charles M. Mills died in France on October Oc-tober 0. according to a message received re-ceived from the war department by J. W. Mills of Evanston. Wyo. Death was due to pneumonia. Mr. Mills was born at Evanston on November r, I S9i. He graduated from the Evanston high school with the class of 1HT2. fie was also a graduate of the Brigiiam Young university univer-sity at Provo. On June 1.1, 1917, he married, mar-ried, in the Salt Lake temple. Miss Ida Thomas, one of the teachers in the Evanston schools. Mr. Mills left Evanston with a draft contingent in July for Logan' and was transferred to ('amp Mills on August If), leaving soon for overseas. Pefore entering enter-ing military service Mr. Mills was a mem her of the Evanston home guard band and treasurer of that organization. Mills, and several brothers and sisters. After having recovered from a gunshot gun-shot wound and going unscathed through a number of fierce v contested battles, Harold M. Mayfield, sou of Mr. and Mrs. AY. M. Mayfield of Farmington, is in a hospital in France, suffering from the effects ef-fects of gas. Mr. Mayfield. member of M coinpanv. Fifty-ninth Infantry, took part in the .Inly drive,, which proved to be the turning point in favor of the allies. He was one of the first TTtah soldiers wounded, wound-ed, being struck- in tiie right shoulder mi duly I'. He was able to rejoin his company soon afterward, and was gassed in a later engagement. He expected to lea e the hospital soon after his letter was written. October 2. Fauntleroy Forsgren of Brigham City died in France on October 1" f pneumonia. pneu-monia.
