In l!)14 Cirenda, teamed with Goullet, finished fin-ished first, and the following year again finished first with Fred Hill as a partner. Alfred Goidlet, popular with the six-day six-day race 'fiends, will make a bid to enter the race if he can gain leave from the aviation branch of tb.e army. Goullet volunteered shortly after the last race and has been busy mastering the pranks of a flying machine ever -since. Goullet was about ready for a trip across the deep blue when the dove of peace fluttered flut-tered into the picture. The United States navy will be represented rep-resented in this year's six -day race by Clarence Carman of Jamaica, the noted sprinter and pace follower. Carman, who enlisted in the navy at the close I of. last year's grind, writes that he has been in training for two weeks, Michael de Baetz. the Belgian, will be ; teamed with Carman. Drobach first entered the race in 1911, and has been a competitor ever since. Dast year he had Srenda as a partner and finished eighth. With Halstead as a partner he finished fourth in 1913, sixth with Collins in 19J2, fourth with Halstead in litis, second with Luwson In 1934, ninth with Corry in 1915 and fifth with Hill in 1916. In each of these races Drobach and his partner were onlv beaten in the final second of the race. Varri first entered the six-day race in 1913. with Broceo as a partner. The following fol-lowing year he rode with Egg. Last year Yarri had Bobby Spears as a. partner. |
