Show BREAD PRICES CAUSE OF CLASH IN IDAHO ! t . Master Bakers Are' Inclined to' Disregard Orders of Food Administrator. Special to The Tribune. POCATELLO, Idaho, Nov. 26. A clash between the master bakers of Idaho and 1 the state food administration has oc- curred over the price of bread. Some i time ago State Food Administrator R. F. i Bicknell fixed the wholesale and retail price of bread at 9 and 10 cents, respectively, respect-ively, for the 16-ounce loaf. Some of the master bakers balked at the time at the food administrator's action, ac-tion, but for a time the bakers contented themselves with the decision. The bakers bak-ers have changed their attitude, however, and announced that, beginning yesterday morning, the price of the 16-ounce loaf would be 122 cents, two loaves for 25 cents. The action on the part of the bakers is chiefly in Boise. Leading Vo-catello Vo-catello bakers will conform to the regU-d latlons of the food administration voluntarily, volun-tarily, ' according to Manager Seyboldt of the Seyboldt bakery. Bakers throughout the state have been warned by' the food administrator that license li-cense will bo revoked of any firm that does not adhere to the decision of the administration, and so far they have been compelled to sell bread at tho old prices. The action of the Boise bakers was taken by officials of the Master Bakers' association, of which Pocatello baiters are members, but according to some local firms they had no intention of adopting the new scale fixed by the state association. asso-ciation. It is now up to the master bakers of the Boise district to ask for a conference confer-ence with the slate food administration, and in the meantime to conform to tho prices fixed some i. weaks ago. Should some of them try to boost the price over the warning o( Mr. Bicknell they will be put out of business. Some local bakers stated last night that there is no occasion occa-sion for the raise. |
