This afternoon the Twentieth iufan- j try band is to give a special concert j at the post at 3:45, and guard mount will be moved forward to the morning ' hour. Field equipment of the regiment was inspected by the headquarters and com- j pany officers yesterday morning. The j troops turned out about 8 o'clock with i their complete field outfits, and a large i part of the morning was consumed in ! inspecting the condition of the gov- j ernmcnt property, checking up short- j ages and getting an accounting record l of all damaged or missing property. . Each Saturday, under the programme of procedure as outlined by Colonel Hasbrouck, Has-brouck, is given over to inspection work and because of that the soidiers are excused ex-cused from the strenuous drill programme pro-gramme that is carried out on other days of the week, excepting Sunday. Saturday is a general clean-up day throughout the post and the soldiers take advantage of the opportunity offered of-fered to do their weekly ''house cleaning,'' clean-ing,'' washing, sewing and ' primping1 J j for Sunday. The latter day is visiting day. The fort is always crowded with visitors on Sundays, and every soldier j likes to be in his best bib and tucker on that occasion. ! Though there is.no field drill on Satur-j Satur-j day, inside the barracks there is plenty j to vlo. The boys are kept busy all day. ; I For the officers Saturday morning is I a regular work day during which they I j make reports, check up papers and do i their "office work." On Saturday aft- j ernoons as many as can be spared from their duties are given leaves of absence and may spend the afternoon and evening eve-ning in recreation. |
