Show CHINESE HUMES THREATENING REVOLT May Send Expedition to Peking to Force Dissolution Disso-lution of Parliament. PEKING, June 1. The provinces of Anhui, Chi-Li, Hu-Peh, Che-Kiang, Fo-Kien Fo-Kien and Ho-Xan have proclaimed their independence and threaten to send a joint expedition to Peking to force the dissolution of parliament and the reinstatement rein-statement of Tuan-Chi-Jui as premier. Hang-Hau-Lun, speaker of the assembly, assem-bly, ,has resigned and gone to Tien-Tsin Tien-Tsin to join the military governors. The attitude of Chang-Hsun, the commander of the government troops at Nan-King and Feng-Kwo:Chang, tho vice president, is undefined, but it is behoved that; both are inclined to support the militarists. The president has i;sued a lengthy statement defending defend-ing his dismissal of the premier, at the same time highly praising him and expressing the hope that he may servo tho country in the future. The statement state-ment ends: "If those responsible for the present erisi3 intend to provoke internal war I will under no consideration "watch the country sink into perdition. I am not afraid to die for the country." The general tone of the statement is apologetic and lacking in strength. Owing Ow-ing to the refusal of Li Ching Hsi to accept the premiership, the president's position is precarious. The six revolting provinces in China form the major part of tho southeastern portion of the republic and have a population pop-ulation of about 120,000,000. The situation sit-uation in China has grown steadily more threatening since President Li Yuan Hung dismissed Premier Tuan Chi Jui from office on May 23, following follow-ing a riotous session of the house of representatives, at which the deputies refused to pass a resolution declaring war on Germany. The parliamentary building was surrounded by a mob demanding de-manding war, and the president accused ac-cused the premier of attempting to coerce co-erce parliament. The military governments govern-ments sided with the dismissed prime minister and left the capitol in a body. |
