Show BATTLESHIP IDAHO LAUNCHED SOON Special to The Tribune. WASHINGTON-, June 19. Secretary Daniels today declined to postpone until July 10 the launching of the new battleship battle-ship Idaho at Philadelphia. Governor Alexander Al-exander today telegraphed Senator Borah asking that the launching be deferred until that date, as he cannot get east until that time. Secretary Daniels told the senator he could not delay launching as there is Immediate need for the ways now occupied by the Idaho, and as soon as the Idaho is ready she will be launched some time in the latter part of June. Senator Borah todoy offered the Smith-Borah Smith-Borah bill, guaranteeing bonds of irrigation irriga-tion districts, as an amendment to the pending food bill. As this measure is designed to hvrgely increase the crop area next year, Senator Borah thinks it legitimately could be made a part of the food bill, and he will make a stout fight to secure its adoption. |
