Show ENLISTED TEUTON IS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY BALTIMORE, June 19. Oscar Christian, Chris-tian, a German, who says he came to this country in 1912 and took out first citizenship papers in Alaska and subsequently subse-quently went to southern California and enlisted in the coast artillery, being assigned as-signed to the Twenty-eightn company at Fort Rosecrana, was arrested here today and is under heavy guard tonight at Fort Howard, by order of the United States marshal. He wears the unirorm of the Twenty -eighth company, coast artillery. In his possession were drawings, apparently appar-ently of a -lighthouse and machinery. There also were written in German script papers in which he said he "described the cruelties of American detention houses," which he intended taking to Germany. Ger-many. The police at first laid a charge of "suspected Insanity" against him, but the United States officers believe him "sane ! and will make a thorough investigation i of his antecedents. He said he escaped from a detention house in Washington : Monday night. |
