Show OREM LINE SELECTS NEW GENERHL AGEm W. L. White to Assist Ross Beason, Who Has New Duties in East. Announcement of the appointment of W. L. White as general freight and passenger passen-ger agent of the Salt Lake & Utah railroad, rail-road, effective January 1, was made yes-te yes-te i-day by Ross Reason, traffic manager of the road. On the same date Raymond Ray-mond D. Smith will become traveling freight and passenger agent of the company, com-pany, with headquarters in Provo. The appointment of Mr. White fills a position created to give an assistant to Mr. Beason, who, as a member of the firm of A. J. Or em & Co., will be compelled com-pelled to divide his time between Salt Lake City and Boston, the eastern headquarters head-quarters of tiie firm. Mr. Beaton will retain his position as traffic manager of the Orem lines, but inasmuch as he will be away from the railroad properties of the company a good share of the time it was deemed advisable to appoint an assistant with the title of general freight and passenger agent, who will be on the ground ali the time. ' , Mr. Beason plans to leave for Boston in about ten days for a stay of about two months. He then expects to return to Salt Lake for a period of two months and alter that alternate in periods of sixty or ninety days between Salt Lake and Boston, Bos-ton, lie intends, however, to maintain his legal residence in Utah. . Mr. White has been associated -with the Salt Lake & Utah in the general offices for about a year. Prior to that time he was with the Harriman lines, principally prin-cipally the Oregon Siiort Line at Salt Lake, for ahout seven jears. He began his railroad career in the general gen-eral offices of the Chicago & Eastern Illinois Illi-nois railroad at Chicago about twelve years ago. Mr. "White will make his headquarters head-quarters at Salt Lake and will maintain offices in the Klectrio Railway building. Mr. Smith has been connected with the general offices of the Salt Lake & Utah railroad about one year. His appointment was made to fill the. vacancy created by the resignation of I. M. Warner as traveling travel-ing freight and passenger agent. Mr. Warner tendered his, resignation to become city agent for the company at Provo, which is his home. |
