Show GROWING INDUSTRY. The Salt Lake Union stockyards already al-ready is in operation and by March 1 the plant of the Cudahy Packing company com-pany will be opened in conjunction with ' it. Those who are financing the stock- ' yards have made elaborate preparations which are destined to create a livestock and packing center in Salt Lake which in the years near at hand will equal that of Kansas City or Omaha. Salt , Lake is well on the way to become the ' chief livestock and packing town of the intcrmountain region. One of the most modern yards has been established, with concrete floors, j self -drained, with loading platforms of concrete which permit the loading and unloading of livestock on the level with cars and with all the" latest facilities s for tho handling of cattle, hogs and i sheep. An exchange building is now J in course of construction and already ; twelve of its eighteen rooms have been i contracted for by various companies. A company has been organized to feed stock on part of the acreage of the stockyards. Moreover, provisions have been made for developing the livestock industry of the state by loans on livestock, live-stock, and a separate company has been established for that purpose. The Cudahy Packing company's entrance en-trance into this field assures the sue- i cess of the stockyards and its associat- ' ed enterprises, for an old, experienced i and prosperous packing company of the magnitude of the Cudahy company is certain to give the needed impetus aud the sustained prestige to Salt Lake as a livestock market town. |
