Show OGDEN ELKS HOLD fffiWS FETE Several Hundred Persons Enjoy Annual Event Given by Lodge. Specaal to The Tribune. OGDEN, Dec. 30. The first of a, three days' series of New Year observances ob-servances in this city was staged tonight, to-night, when the members of Ogden lodge No. 719, B. P. 0. Elks, and their ladieB gathered in the Elks' home on Grant avenue. The celebration, which was attended by several hundred persons, per-sons, was the third New Year's party given by the local lodge of Elks and was at least three times as successful as the first. The fact that the calendar has been pushed up one day and that no whistles whis-tles and general noise announced the departure of 1916 made no difference to the Elks, for such noises would not have been heard by the Eiks and their friends had they been in evidence. The midnight hour in the club brought quite enough noise to drown any competitive noise that might have existed outside the walls. Entertainment during the evening was furnished by a troupe of Hawaiian musicians and a local orchestra furnished fur-nished music for dancing in the lodge room. There was a buffet lunch at 10 o'clock, after which the celebration became be-came a carnival. The New Year affair was in charge of a committee composed of Walter Tlerrick, chairman, Robert Hoegan, W. T. Greenwell, P. C. Hichardson," Ernest Stone and Ernest Dahlin. The members of the Weber club will hold their New Year's celebration Sunday Sun-day night. There will be a dinner at 9 o 'clock, followed by a musical programme pro-gramme lasting until midnight. The dining room of the club will then be cleared for dancing. Several prominent musicians of the state have been engaged en-gaged to furnish the formal programme. |
