Show UTAHNS ARE CULLED TO TIIS81IS Governor Issues Proclamation Proclama-tion and Enjoins Its Fullest Full-est Observance. Thursday. November r29, is set officially offi-cially I'or the state of Utah as Thanks-giving Thanks-giving day in a proclamation which was issued yesterday by Governor Simon Bamberger. In his preamble Governor Bamberger makes special reference to the things for which the people may be thankful ns the prospective outcome of the great world war, anil he particularly emphasiscs the fact that gratitude is due for the comparative safety of the men of the army and navy. Urging citizens to combine with thankfulness a resolution to do full duty toward the nation, the proclamation proclama-tion follows: Annually it has been the custom of the people of Utah to follow the beautiful precedent established by the Pilgrim fathers to set aside a day in the autumn of each year to return thanks to God for the bountiful boun-tiful fruits of the harvest. Jn the midst of war. when depressing de-pressing news of conflict and suffering suf-fering assails, we may still find much in the state of" Utah for which to return thanks to a beneficent benefi-cent and divine providence. Let us assemble in our places of worship and thank God as did the Pilgrim fathers for the harvest. Never before have the fields and the orchards yielded in such abundance abun-dance their grains and their fruits to the toil of the husbandman. Let us be thankful for the privilege privil-ege of thus contributing to our beloved be-loved country and to the nations allied with ours the foodstuffs that will supply our armies in the field and in camp and ward off famine among the civilian population of the civilized world. Let us return thanks for the opportunities op-portunities this terrible struggle-brings struggle-brings to the United States to abolish abol-ish tvruniiy. absolutism and the law of might, 'and to aid in the establishment, estab-lishment, of democracy in every civilized nation. Let us thank God for the safety from serious disaster of the brave men in the army and navy of the United States and let us pray that this comparative safety may continue. con-tinue. While giving thanks to God for the manifold blessings we have re-ceive.i, re-ceive.i, let u also resolve, that we will do our full duly toward our couutrv in this hour of need, and subordinate all private interests to the interest of the government in this emergency.
