Hayes, treasurer and assist- 1 ant secretary of the Utah Copper company, com-pany, returned yesterday from a two weeks' trip to the east, spending most of his time in Xew York, not on business, but for recreation. Mr. Hayes said that he found the city so busy that It was hard to find rest, even among friends-He friends-He said that Gotham appeared to be more , prosperous than ever before, with every- , body hustling. I There is, said Mr. Hayes, an unusually unusual-ly strong demand for all kinds of skilled labor, while no man who seeks employ- ! ment, even in the manual forms of toil, j need go without work. i Mr. Hayes ts no stranger to New York, . the last previous of his frequent visits having been made last spring, but he said th t one tiling that greatly impressed im-pressed him was the increase in the congestion con-gestion of traffic on the subways in a city noted for having for years contended I with the traffic problem. |
