Show MISSES $400 CASH FROM HIS CLOTHES Ogden Man Does Not Know Whether He Lost Money or "Was Victim of Pickpockets. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN. Dec. 24. The loss of $400 in cash, believed by some of the officers to have been stolen, was reported to the po-I po-I lice today by William Baxter, an cm-I cm-I ployee of the Amalgamated Sugar com-! com-! pany, who resides at No. 6 Smith's uonrt. ! The money was taken or lost from the : man's pocket .some time between Thursday Thurs-day and last night. 1 As the result of injury Mr. Baxter's left hand was amputated several months i ago and he received ?4nfi jnsu;anre. He loaned the money and the party to whom ; he made the loan repaid it in cash I Thursday. Mr. Baxter says he placed , the money in his pocket until such time , as he could get to the bank. : He went to work at the sugar factory I Thursday and, as had been his custom for j some time, replaced his street clothes 1 with overalls and jumper, leaving the i street clothes hanging on the wall. ; According to his report to the police, Mr. Baxter did not have occasion to look for : the money until Saturday evening, when his wife asked him for some cash for Christmas shopping. He then discovered that the ?400 was missing. When he reported re-ported the matter this afternoon Ulr. Baxter was unable to say whether he had lost the money from his pocket or it had been stolen. |
