Show ORATORIO SOCIETY HOLDS REHEARSALS That the Salt Lake Oratorio society, backed by the churches, civic and social organizations of the city, will score a success In the presentation of "The Messiah," Mes-siah," Handel's great oratorio, at the Salt Lake tabernacle New Year's afternoon, after-noon, was made evident at the two rehearsals re-hearsals held yesterday. Under the direction of Squire Coop the eoloists held rehearsal with the orchestra yesterday morning at Barralt hall. This was the first time the soloists had been brought together since the selection of artists was made. Mrs. Marjorie Dodge ; "Warner, who has come from Chicago to sing the soprano role, demonstrated talent, tal-ent, technique, experience and personality personal-ity to such an extent that she was received re-ceived with acclaim by the orchestra members and the other soloists, Miss -"V Florence Jepperson, contralto; Dr. W. E. K "W'orley, tenor, and Ray Russell, baritone. y-" In the afternoon a chords rehearsal was held in the tabernacle with splendid attendance and a demonstration that the singers have studied the great composition composi-tion until their interpretation will be artistic. The chorus will comprise about "00 talented singers, while an orchestra of forty, selected from the leading musicians musi-cians of the city, will play the accompaniment. |
