Show MIDNIGHT MASS CELEBRATED FOR BORDER TROOPS VAj PASO. Dec. 24. High mass at midnight mid-night in the camp of the Thirty-second Michigan infantry will usher in their first Christmas under canvas for thousands of r national guardsmen on the Mexican border. bor-der. A turkey dinner will be served to every man in this district tomorrow-There tomorrow-There will be Christmas trees in many of the camps of the various units comprising com-prising the provisional border division and Christmas services and celebrations held throughout the division tomorrow. All but the most necessary duties have been suspended throughout the division by order of Brigadier General George Bell, Jr., and the men will be given a week of rest from drills and routine duties. Band conceits will be held in all of the camps tomorrow, and polo games, football and other sports will be participated partici-pated in by the officers and men. In addition to the individual Christmas boxes from relatives and friends of the national guardsmen encamped here, many cities and towns represented by soldiers on this part of the border have sent Christmas boxes containing comfort bags, toilet articles, candies ami books. There was a special celebration today at Fort Bliss for the children whose fathers are with General Pershing's troops in Mexico. |
