Show DAPGY WILL FIGHT EISHIJUTS HERE First Opponent Not Yet Selected; Se-lected; Will Begin Training Train-ing at Once. By International News Service. NEW YORK, Dec. 24. Les Darcy wil. fight at least eight bouts in this country before he joins the colors, according to a statement of the great Australian fighter here today. Not even tentative arrangements for a schedule of battles has been made and Darcy has no idea who his first opponent will be- He is very desirous, however, of getting a chance at the middleweight title. Darcy .intends to begin light training immediately, but will not decide on permanent per-manent training quarters or do any heavy work until something definite is known as to his coming battles. He says it will take him only ten days or two weeks to get Into fighting trim and that he will be able to step into the ring at 153 pounds. "While the fights in this country will probably be of ten rounds, the difference between them and twenty-round encounters encoun-ters will not count against me," he said. i. "In all my encounters I keep up a steady jP pace, with the intention of winning as I quickly as possible. The Americans 1 fought at home were all quick, so I think I'm pretty well acquainted with your style here. "Jimmy Clahby was about the best American 1 fought at home. Our last v tight was rather disappointing, for Jimmy clinched at every opportunity. He had wagered he would stay the twenty rounds ' and, naturally, adopted the best method to win his money. "Jeff Smith fouled me at least five ! times. Smith is a tighter who travels a ' merry pace when he is winning. Eddie I MoGoorty's .first fight with me did not take well, for there were reports that he ; wagered heavily on me to win. In our next match he figured he would win and ' backed himself." |
