Show SCHOOL BOYS SING TO CITY PRISONERS Chorus of Sixty Carols in Police Court Boom for Fifty Well Pleased Inmates of Jail. A chorus of sixty boys of the Lafayette school last evening provided "good cheer" fr'n- about fifty prisoners in the city jail when they sang Christmas carols to them in the police court. Sweet Christinas melodies mel-odies such as "It Came Upon the Midnight Mid-night Clear," "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing." and "Christians Awake, Salute the Happy Morn" were rendered. As the boys' voices soared and reverberated rever-berated through the building, the prisoners prison-ers were visibly impressed. Encores wore demanded and they were given with alacrity. alac-rity. Then a quartet, consisting of fnur prisoners, responded with a Christmas carol. The visit of the choristers to the court to entertain the prisoners was arranged by the charity league, consisting of several sev-eral club women. After the singing when the prisoners were talten back to jail candy and peanuts were given to them. Musical selections were rendered in the jail by L. P. Christiansen, conductor of the high school band, Carl Eftinger, L-eo Neibaur and Thomas Martin. Their efforts were much appreciated by the prisoners who loudly applauded them. Musicians and choristers left with the good wishes of the prisoners. |
