Show WILL NOT ADVANCE THE MILITARY AGE LONDON", Nov. 4. In political circles it Is considered extremely unlikely that the British parliament will advance the military mil-itary age to Ho years. It is generally recognized that for military purposes a man has passed his prime at fortv, but the Idea' Is that these men could be used for home defense so as to release everv available younger man for continental service. But before any measure of this ort Is decided upon parliament will need assurances that there are no considerable numbers of younger men enjoying exemption ex-emption and engaged on work of a civilian character which could be just as easily done by the older men. The combing-out process Is almost as necessary in the army itself as In government offices and in munition works. There are still thousands thou-sands of men in sedentary jobs at the bases and on the lines of communication communica-tion who might be sent to join the infantry in-fantry of tho line and have their places taken by partially disabled men. |
