Show MARRIAGE RATE IS HIGHEST IN HISTORY "LONDON, Nov. 4. That Ixmdon' marriage rate Is the highest on record, that health conditions are not ae good ae usual and that the birth rate is still failing fail-ing are striking points in the county medical officer's report for the year 1915, made public today. The number of marriages registered hero was 58,345, against 43.373 in 1934 and 41,409 in 1913. The Increase over 1914 la 34 per cent, compared with 20 per cent for the rest of England and Wales. The birth rate shows a fall from 26 in in 1909-13 and 24.3 in 1D14 to 23.6. The health record, it is stated, is unfavorable, un-favorable, on account of the large number num-ber of elderly persons killed by influenza and respiratory diseases. |
